Summary Job Description

Under the general supervision of a Technical Supervisor, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established department policies and procedures. Responsibilities include specimen handling, performance of test(s), oversight of results, and reporting. Responsibilities also include instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, compliance with accreditation requirements, and adherence to PAML Quality Assurance processes. OR Under the general supervision of a supervisor, the Clinical Laboratory Technician performs laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established department policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

* Performance of and reporting of laboratory diagnostic testing results.

* Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

* Ability to work well independently in handling high volume requests and STATS in an organized manner, with attention to detail and stipulated deadlines.

* Perform multiple computer functions, including LIS result entry in Flexilab/Sunquest, review of pending test logs, and use of CRM/Microsoft Outlook.

* Perform and document quality control.

* Effectively communicate with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.



Requirements

CLS:


* Must qualify as testing personnel under CLIA regulations.

* Baccalaureate Degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science with one (1) year clinical internship OR has equivalent grandfather classification.

* Nationally recognized certification as appropriate to job description OR nationally recognized categorical certification OR registry eligible.

* Must be able to work independently, think logically, and remain professional under pressure.

CLT:


* Must qualify as testing personnel under CLIA regulations.



* Associates degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science with one (1) year clinical internship OR has equivalent grandfather classification OR Baccalaureate degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science that is currently and actively being on-the-job-trained at PAML

* Nationally recognized certification as appropriate to job description OR registry eligible

Preferred education, skills or experience

* Prefer diagnostic testing experience, but will accept recent MLS or MT grad who is registry eligible
